Problem with showing product links on a multi-site setup.

I have multiple sites running, one of which is a main site that is set as the primary site, and the other is an online store site. The URI format for the product type is only available for the online store site and is empty for the main site.

The Redactor field won't show the "Link to a product/variant" option when the entry doesn't belong to the online store site. This option will only be available if I either provide the URI format for the product type to the main site or switch the primary site to the online store. But this is not my desired setup. Is it possible to show the option for product links without altering the primary site setting or giving the URI to the main site?
