Map doesn't respond to search changes well

When changing the search (either changing disease or food), the map does not update the markers and the rest of the map sort of comes in when it pleases while leaving other parts still hanging. When there is a new map/disease the whole map should clear and only load in once the data is there. When just the food changes, the markers should just update.
