CSIS Acceptance Test by AIT #51
Comments
Have you encountered any problems/bugs? |
Not yet. We had a H2020 submission as coordinator yesterday and will do this until tomorrow EOB. Sorry for that. |
Attached are the first findings, done under some time presure, so don't mind the style, and if my remarks are sometimes not clear, feel free to ask. |
URL: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/171/view/intro I get the following error in the console:
|
URL: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/171/view/context I can see this error in the console: It does not seem to affect the workflow, though. |
URL: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/171/view/area Description: until I returned to the "Context" tab. So, I think a "Save" button on the "Area" tab would be very helpful. It is also not clear that the area selection is the same as uploading a screenshot of the area you just chose in the map. |
URL: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/171/view/data The WMS links in the "Data" tab do not work ("no connection to server possible"). (I gues, not connection to GeoServer): |
URL: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/171/view/summary Download of pdf is working, though. |
Not an error. |
That's indeed an error in the permission settings. Registered users didn't have the access rights to this specific form. This is now fixed. |
Thanks for pointing that out. We had other error messages as well in this context, however it never seemed to have any negative side-effects. Will keep an eye on that. |
The sidebar was not updated until after a full page reload. This is fixed and will be deployed soon.
It's actually not the same. Area selection is necessary for external services to know on what area calculations have to be performed. The "Include in report" (aka create a screenshot) then allows the user to have images of the Study area in the final PDF report, which is by default not the case. I suppose we should add some text description on that page to clarify what each of the buttons does. |
I can confirm that. The links should in the |
That's related to Heinrich working on new calculation steps for modelling floods, which are not yet complete and cause these errors. They don't affect the already working calculations for heat-waves. In a future update these irrelevant errors will be hidden. |
I will take a closer look at your remarks soon. |
Thank you both, @Itsman-AT and @aitdrazen, for testing and giving feedback! |
Thanks, that was indeed very helpful! I cannot reproduce the following issue with Firefox 77:
Which Browser/Version did you use @aitdrazen |
This is probably related to #51 (comment)
O.K. it should be possible to change to offset of the model dialogue. Perhaps a theme-related issue?
right :-) |
Sorry, I forgot to include this in the document. I was using Chrome: Version 83.0.4103.116 (Official Build) (64-bit) Edit: This occured in case I wanted to change the area, for example I choose area once, and I change my mind, and when I choose a different area, it gives me the error. |
This should be fixed in the theme. However, here on my screen at home, I cannot break the display as shown in the screenshot. I'll have a look at your screen when I'm in the office. |
Also can't reproduce this error, but I saw it happen while he was sharing his screen. And he didn't do anything out of the ordinary to provoke this error. @aitdrazen Maybe it's caused by third-party plugin in your Chrome browser? Can you please try to reproduce this error while using the incognito mode of your browser, where there shouldn't be any third-party plugins active. |
No, this is something else. This error was also reported by Meteogrid and ZAMG. However, in a Study created by Drazen just a couple of minutes before that, this error did not occur. And the Study created by Jan (a couple of days later) also did not run into this error. I will open up a separate issue for this error. |
I can break it. ;-) It probably depends on the monitor resolution. |
I tried the incognito window and I can still cause this error to happen: |
I was finally able to reproduce and fix this error. It had nothing to do with the Map component. Error was caused by another button in the right sidebar, which was using ajax. If the Study wasn't ready for calculations that button was changed via a JavaScript in the csis_helpers module. And that (for whatever reason) caused that error after the second time a screenshot was taken (no interaction with the map component inbetween necessary). |
I have tried to produce a screening study for the whole Linz today (03.07.2020). (https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/37). It mostly works as expected, except for the following:
I'll re-calculate it now, maybe 3 disappears. PS: the study itself is older, maybe the templates used are outdated? But this would not explain the point 3. |
Now, this is an interesting artefact: No idea how I managed to get this, but the "trigger calculation" button was hidden behind the map on https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/179/view/area# . I had to scroll the page to get it out from under the map and make it visible. |
yes, so far it is available on the dev server |
Yes, we're planning to make a new release ASAP @DenoBeno |
This is a report/feedback on the project from a first time user. Basically, some suggestions for improvements, etc. Introduction
1.2 Renaming the Summary Tab 1.3 Explain reason and purpose for Twin studies 1.4 Signpost “Change descriptions”
2.2 Map Comparisons 2.3 Removal of Scenarios/Event Frequency Conclusion |
@p-a-s-c-a-l : I think that something is wrong either with our calculations or with scenario analysis widget. Example 1: for Linz study https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/37/step/1643/view/scenario-analysis, RCP26 and RCP45 data for mid-century is missing. I don't understand why this is the case. maybe @humerh or @patrickkaleta knows? Moreover, "rare" RCP45 events are less dangerous for end-century than for start of the century. I have asked @RobAndGo to look at this. At first this looked completely implausible to me, but maybe it isn't. The point is that yearly events reflect average temperature, which is still growing in RCP4.5 scenario, (from https://robertscribbler.com/2016/08/02/choosing-our-nations-course-for-the-next-40000-years-democratic-and-republican-party-platforms-show-extreme-contrast-on-climate-change/rcp-8-5-nature/) On the other hand, 20y events are anomalies and there are more anomalies when climate changes fast. At least, that's what I've learned to expect from any complex system in "theory of chaos" back in the 90es. And in RCP4.5 scenario, the climate apparently starts stabilizing at a higher level again mid-century. So maybe this is OK? Unfortunately, this isn't the only anomaly. Here is the data for Stockholm (https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/179/step/4828/view/scenario-analysis): In RCP2.6, temperature should start falling mid-century. Here it doesn't. |
Yes, Scenario analysis application is not showing all data since there are cases where for a given grid point, specific heat wave events may not occur. @fabrisj |
The diagram does not show temperate but mortality rate. Perhaps @humerh or @mattia-leone can explain this. |
Thanks again for the helpful suggestions @fabrisj! I've created separate issues to addresses the recommendations.
Yes, they do. E.g. the list of map layers depends on the combination of RCP, time period and event frequency ("Template Resources"). However, this is not obvious to users as there is no comparison between different scenarios as you've mentioned. But we plan to add this for at least for adaption vs. baseline scenarios. |
@p-a-s-c-a-l You're welcome. I actually encountered another issue today. I created a new study and when I go on HC: local effects, I receive the following error message: |
Interesting, perhaps @fgeyer16 is upgrading the core system? But this on done on dev-csis first. Can you please post the URL of the study? |
Hm, now it's working again. But I have no idea why. :-) |
Yes, I noticed. Thank you. |
@p-a-s-c-a-l , @therter : this is a reocurring issue that I keep seeing: https://csis.myclimateservice.eu/study/37/step/1643/view/scenario-analysis Notice how RCP 4.5 is missing for mid-century? RCP 2.6 too. Data exists... And now I can see them all again: ??? (@p-a-s-c-a-l - as you can see, this isn't a case of data not existing...) |
@DenoBeno This is my reoccurring answer: I can only show what I get from EMIKAT. And data actually does not exist, despite what is shown on the map:
I think the reason has been explained by @RobAndGo and @humerh : Scenario analysis application is not showing all data since there are cases where for a given grid point, specific heat wave events may not occur. This is the data received from EMIKAT API and visualised in Scenario Analysis Tool: {
