The README says...

We can see 1 as the first and 9 as the last number of a decimal system, thereby 1-9 to a decimal system is like alpha-omega to the Greek alphabet.

A decimal system has ten digits, hence the name. The first digit is 0, not 1. Therefore, 1-9 has no special significance in a decimal system.
