High background usage

I often get a very high background usage by the Apollo app on my iPhone. I realize that my phone is kinda hot or that my battery is draining quicker than usual, and when I check the battery usage in my settings I see non-stop off-screen usage, and if I click on Show Activity I see that Apollo uses all that off-screen time.

I can't find one way to reproduce the issue, it looks like it appears at random and last until I force quit the app using the app switcher.

iOS version: 16.4.1 (a) but has happened for a few versions now
Apollo version: 1.15.5, same, there were quite a few updates with this problem persisting
iOS device: iPhone 11 Pro
Jailbroken: No
Reproducible: Looks random
