Background:

  • See recommendation 6.3 in UXR report. Corresponding finding: "Participants had some confusion about the ground truth annotation filter. Despite articulating the meaning of ground truth reasonably close to our definition, some participants mistook the filter for datasets containing any annotations."
  • Want to clarify that there are other types of annotations apart from ground truths. We have a tooltip about ground truth, but that's only shown at the run level, when there is a ground truth annotation in the annotations table.
  • Past design exploration that's inconsistent with the portal today: Phase 2 Deprioritized Designs & Explorations – Figma

Design Tasks:

  • Ground truth filter: design tooltip to clarify there are various types of annotations, ground truth being one of them. we could possibly connect this to annotation types in the copy
  • Stretch: consider other places to explain ground truth if applicable

Maybe education isnt the approach, maybe it is a change to the filtering itself. May also related to #1483
