Conducting modern stock assessments requires writing a lot of computer code. However, stock assessment scientists often lack formal training in this area. We will cover some general computational tips, rules of thumb, and recommendations. Given the language R is the language of choice for assessment scientists, we will also focus on specific problems in R, including a live debugging session and time for general questions.
The outline of the session is:
- 45 min talk, including real-time examples
- 10 min of questions arising from the talk
- 5 min break
- live example of debugging
- other general questions from the audience (along the lines of “the one thing that continually messes me up is …, what should I do?”).
