External search API #212

@virtadpt I have not used those two search products. So I do not know. |
Pretty easy when it comes to Lucene! |
@walialu Is this a worthy effort? I have just over 4,000 bookmarks in Unmark and I find searching works very well for me. But, if the community thinks this is a need we should add it to the Roadmap. Perhaps you could spearhead that effort? |
I'm pretty busy right now (until the end of the week), because we have a colleague from France over here in Germany, but I just "bookmarked" this thread so I don't loose track of it and see if I can put together a working example with Apache Solr / Lucene. |
@gorillamoe Any interest in revisiting this effort? I do not know of the direct benefits (as I personally still find Unmark's searching capabilities to be adequate) but I'm more than willing to explore this. |
Improving the search function would be a dream for me. That's the only problem I have with unmark. For example I have a note "3d Slicer printing". I find the result when I search for "3d slicer" but when I try it with "slicer 3d" I dont find it. |
@runam0K - We want this to. It will actually take a database schema modification. So we won't roll it out in 2.0 but in a subsequent update. This way we can match more instances of search terms in title, notes, and tags which should more than cover the examples you provided. Keep an eye out for it in May likely. |
How difficult would it be to add a feature such that the admin could plug a different search mechanism (like Lucene or YaCy) into an Unmark instance to improve search?
