Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right format to ask a question. I am from a university and we are interested in hosting an instance of mediathread and potentially slightly customizing it for our purposes. It seems that the flowplayer does not offer a free version anymore even when self-hosting and the subscription is forced. Unfortunately, the budget is not large and we were planning to use this only for a couple of classes. Is there any way around the flowplayer requirement? We would not need to integrate media from outside sources like Yotube but have control of all media files ourselves if that is somehow important.

Good morning - I'm so excited to hear that you're interested in using Mediathread at your university. I can completely related to the small budget. :-) To answer your question - We are working to remove the Flowplayer dependency. We have eliminated the requirement from the main collection and selection space in favor of the native player. We and now need to extend that to the "mini" collection space within assignments. We are hoping to complete that work in the next several weeks. I'm not sure that meets your timeline, but 🤞 . Please be in touch via our Contact page if you'd like to setup a meeting to chat.
