@coiko I got in touch with Tom about the Caltech article ranking above the main url when you search "atlas of bacterial and archaeal cell structure". He believes this is because google prefers edu domains in search rankings. He also mentioned that the library did not link the article anywhere recently or have done anything else to boost rankings.
I normally google "cell structure atlas" and our site appears first, so I am not sure how the behavior was in the past for "atlas of bacterial and archaeal cell structure". Was it different before for you? Either way, I think there is a good amount to improve in terms of SEO. So hopefully whatever changed can be outweighed by the optimization we do.
