Welcome to the antcat wiki!

Following are a few tips:

o Author names should be separated by semicolons. It's not necessary to put a semicolon after the last name, but it doesn't hurt anything.

o To italicize words, surround them with asterisks.

o You don't need to add a period at the end of any field. Periods are added to the output during formatting.

o The date (not the year) should be formatted like YYYYMMDD. You can leave off any part you don't know, e.g. YYYYMM.

o To sort by latest added/updated reference, click the Review button near the top right.

AntCat keeps separate records for references, authors, author names, publishers, places, and journals. You can add, edit, or delete references, but your options for the other records are more limited. When you type in an author name, for instance, AntCat will add it if it doesn't already exist; otherwise, it will use the existing one. Therefore you can't edit an author's name while editing a reference. The reason is that if you change an author's name, AntCat will simply think you're creating a new one, instead of changing the existing one.

This situation applies to authors, publishers, places, and journals. If you need to change the spelling of an author's name, and have that change apply to all his references, you need to contact me ([email protected]) so I can make the change directly in the database.

At some point, a proper user interface will be added to AntCat to permit editing (and deleting) these records.
