Add a proxy service to provide icons in a secure manner to the desktop/browser/mobile applications. Server should search for icons on the root domain only.

Thanks for considering user privacy.

Will this service be hosted on a separate subdomain? I would suggest doing that so the appropriate override/disable rules can be added to /etc/hosts, ublock and umatrix extensions, etc. in case there is a regression of the (in progress?) setting to disable external requests. Until there are more users and developers on this project to provide adequate QA this would probably be sufficient.

I definitely think having it on a subdomain would be a good idea.. thanks for suggesting it. No movement here just yet but it'll come soon! Happy to hear what everything thinks of this feature in terms of privacy.

Eventually we could make it an opt-in feature for users that want such control - They could choose their own image or switch to use the favicon from the remote host.
