It's difficult to get cheap iTags with ST17H66B now, I bought 4 iTags, one of which is ST17H66T, and the other three are unknown.
But there are a lot of cheap airtag alternatives which use ST17H65.
Is there any chance to build a firmware for ST17H65?

Those are a completely different architecture, so it would require starting from zero. I don't have any st17h65 at the moment, so it will definitely not be anytime soon..
On the other hand, Lenze has quite a few examples in their SDK, and adding the FindMy advertisement is very straightforward.

So if you feel adventurous, it's definitely doable!
