Volume control mostly hidden in fullscreen mode

What steps will reproduce the problem?
 1. Open file and play it
 2. Switch to full-screen mode

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
 volume control is mostly hidden when using fullscreen mode.
 It is partially visible in the height of the menu panel whereas the part where
 volume level is shown and adjusted is hidden behind the movie or surrounding
 background area.
 You have to leave fullscreen mode to adjust volume.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
 Debian Jessie - gnome-mplayer Version: 1.0.9-3
