Covers not visible when playing audio file

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Edit your audio files (apple lossless alac mp3 doesn't matter) to have a 
cover
2. Play the file
3. Stop the playback

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
What I expected is that gnome-mplayer plays the file and shows the embedded 
cover. Although it resizes the window to the right size, and in the video info 
there's also a jpeg present, I only can see a black screen. As soon as I stop 
playback (not just pause it) the cover appears as it should...


What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 14.04, gnome-mplayer 1.09b
