The text is too complicated and many fonts (even Uthman Taha Naskh) have problems rendering it.

Lots of fonts lack sort of necessary functionality but it is also true that the text we use is fairly complex. Amiri Quran handles it pretty well. Scheherazade does a very good job (but it misses the Quranic hamzah in the middle of the word. The Uthman Taha font surprisingly has many more problems: it lacks glyphs for hizb/juz' as well as alef-waslah, sequential tanweens, etc. Some of these are better addressed on the font side but we may provide features to simplify the text (and sort of "patch" the font).
