Hacktribe Editor - Testing

I made a start on a GUI, it currently supports patching the firmware.

I haven't tested it on Windows or Mac, let me know how it goes.

@AndrewSosna reports it runs on macOS 12.1 without issues.

@kgorlovsky reports workaround required for M1 Mac

Installation of bsdiff4 will fail on Windows without the correct build tools installed, see #103.

An executable is available for Windows.

To test:

Clone hacktribe-editor:

git clone https://github.com/bangcorrupt/hacktribe-editor.git

Enter hacktribe-editor directory:

cd hacktribe-editor

Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Run hacktribe_app.py:

python hacktribe_app_gui.py

Follow the instructions in the app, pay attention to the log output in the text box.

Generally works on Windows. Got problems with the BSdiff compilation as mentioned in another thread. DId install the buildtools visual c++ but might need to set paths for it. Haven´t developed anything on windows yet, except godot, so no experience how to do it correctly here.

With excluding bsdiff the main program starts at least. Wont patch anything without checksum though.

Tested on macOS 12.1, patched synth firmware to hacktribe.
Works fine, resulting VSB is binary equal to the one produced by scripts in current master branch.

Yes, the GUI supports patching firmware.

Couldn't get it working on M1 Mac - looks like PyQt5 doesn't support it.

Ok, it works with python3-intel64 instead of just python3.

Yes, works perfectly in virtual environment.

Just tried out the new executable for the app and it worked nicely. Just modified the header to go back to synth for now. (The choice of drum samples I can upload and the melodic samples to choose drive me mad, I go back to limited :D )

Don't move any of the files. After cloning the repo, run the GUI you find at hacktribe/app/hacktribe-gui.exe.

no luck running ht-cli on an intel mac running 10.15.7. following read-me verbatim:

In the clone command you missed the -b ht-cli option. You can checkout the ht-cli branch using:

git checkout ht-cli

Then the pip install . command should work.
