Using remote power button to resume system from suspend shuts down system again

I use this addon with the suspend option. The problem is that to resume the system I have to push the power button on my MCE remote (other buttons don't work). This causes the system to resume but immediately after that it also shuts down the system again since Kodi also captures the power button press. Is there a way to workaround this issue?

Just an idea to fix/workaround this issue: Perhaps use a simple lockfile so only one instance of the addon can run at once?
