The lookahead feature on Artisan Scope software PID on fluid bed/air roasters

I roast on an electric fluid bed roaster (Coffee Crafters 3E) using Artisan Scope software PID to control the heat with a RC servo. I have about 300 roasts using the PID and only have tinkered around a little with the lookahead feature. When I have experimented with the lookahead feature in the past it caused a lag in the PID performance and I never used it again as I get very good PID performance without it. The question has come up on the fluid bed Facebook group, which caused me to want to look into this further to see what benefit there might be to using the lookahead feature with a fluid bed roaster.
