Hi, I've roasted for years and been using the Hottop for years as well. I've decided to try linking w/ the Artisan software for all the usual reasons folks do this. So far I'm not having much luck. Ideally, I'd use my laptop; so I tried it first. The problem is what I've seen many on this forum have: The PC (Dell XPS, Win10) isn't seeing the Hottop. After not being able to get past this, I installed the FTDI driver and it didn't work. Then I see that probably was a bad idea so tried to uninstall it but couldn't find it.
Next, I moved the roaster close to my desktop PC. Not ideal but I wanted to see what Artisan looked like in action. No problem getting a COM port on the desktop (also Win10). Step 1 was just trying to log a dry roast. I'm getting temperature reading but when trying to turn the knob to lower the burner or start a fan, nothing happens.
To get out of this, I become 'Super User' and the controls work to shut it down.
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Any ideas?
