Something like gulp will provide several key benefits:

Automatic pushing of files (alleviating the constant gapps deploy dev)
Integration of unit tests
Automatic modification of code for dev/staging/production environments (e.g. Add a variable to toggle dev/production mode #7)

I'm a believer that:

If something needs to be done once, it will probably need to be done many times
If something needs to be done many times, it should be automated
