Nice to have features

A list of nice to have features in Ironwail

Now, I'm no Quake veteran or anything, but I do like the game and I think this is the best source port for it due to how much stuff there sis to configure using the GUI.

However, I can see some features that will make this source port even better and more accessible. Let's start with the more… essential ones.

• Field of View Slider
• Head bobbing toggle or sliders

These are the most common things that cause motion sickness in games and from what I know, there is a way to set these using command lines from the console or the config file. Having these in the setting menu would be great thou. The reason I said head bobbing slider is that apparently you can set a lot of things for head bobbing, like angle and amount and so on, but a turn-off toggle is enough if you ask me.

Now for the less essential but nice to have things.

• Separate Scaling for in game UI and Menus
• Alternative fonts for people with dyslexia or have trouble reading
• Solid color backgrounds for texts or menus to again make them more readable
• Color Blind modes

I noticed that the game can use something like that because in classic UI and kinda the modern UIs, if you try to scale the menus to basically make use of your entire screen, the game UI becomes… too big.

The second and third items are something that the remaster has fixed, but only in menus. The default font in quake is certainly unique, looks good, but it isn't particularly easy to read. In the main menus, it can even blend into the background. Having an easier to read font makes things well… easier to read, and having a solid or maybe darkened background behind them will help it not to blend into the background. This would help immensely for mods like Arcane Dimensions that only show a message on screen for a few seconds.

The last point is not really something I have an issue with, but it is again really nice to have and from what I can see, none of the source ports or official releases have color-blind mode.
