Academic honesty: “Academic misconduct refers to dishonesty in examinations (cheating), presenting the ideas or the writing of someone else as one's own (plagiarism), or knowingly furnishing false information to the university by forgery, alteration, or misuse of university documents, records, or identification. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, the following examples: permitting another student to plagiarize or cheat from your work, submitting an academic exercise (written work, printing, sculpture, computer program) that has been prepared totally or in part by another, acquiring improper knowledge of the contents of an exam, using unauthorized material during an exam, submitting the same paper in two different courses without knowledge and consent of your instructors.

It is expected that you will attend all scheduled classes. If you cannot attend a class session, please call or e-mail me in advance. Any absence, other than that which falls within the University's recognized legitimate absence policy, will result in a loss of points. Each absence lowers your grade by 5 points. You are also strongly advised to be punctual to scheduled class sessions.

Grading Policies

Your final grade will be computed from your Quarter weighted total score of written assignments, class discussions, and two tests (Mid-Term and Final). The format for the tests will be selected-response (multiple-choice). The tests will include material from the text, class notes, class discussions, online/video conference with Ohio University library personnel, and hand-outs. The assignments will be graded on their educational value and research methodology as well as on your demonstration of technical proficiency, including APA style of referencing. You are also expected to do assigned readings and participate in Class discussions.

Note: The grading policy of UEW is as follows:

75 - 79

B+

70-74

Final Grade

The final grade for this course is based upon the written assignments and the midterm examination (Continuous Assessment 40%), and the Project Work/Final Examination (60%). Extra assignments to increase your grade are not possible in this course. The UEW Faculty Members Handbook requires me to inform you that the penalty for academic dishonesty is course failure.
