Track translations #196
Comments
Do you all have any thoughts on what contributions the Polyglots team wants to track on w.org/profiles? @vlad-timotei @amieiro @naokomc @angelasjin |
I think we should count: Everyone
We'll need to avoid providing incentives to just add many low-quality (not approvable) translations, but at the same time need to take into account sometimes approval doesn't happen because GTEs are inactive or very picky. Global Mentor / Locale Managers / G&PTEs
And for a digest, how about one of these?
Not sure if you are looking for these, but here are other items for consideration for polyglots contributors.
|
Those seem great, thanks!
Should that include when someone's role is removed or downgraded? Other teams are discussing that as well.
That could work, I'll bring it up in #197 so we can keep that topic centralized.
I think these are already working, or are already planned in other tickets:
I don't think these are yet (for Rosetta or english sites)
|
Similar to Angela's suggestion about WordCamp/Meetup status change, I think removal/downgrade action by Locale Managers (or Global Mentors) should also be counted too. |
Do these sound like the strings you want to use in those situations? Manager's profile:
Profile of the person being removed:
Or were you thinking the first message would leave the person's name out, and that the second one wouldn't be posted? If we do post them, I think it'll be important to pick the language carefully, since it could be awkward/uncomfortable for some folks to have their profile broadcast that they were removed from a position. |
It seems potentially problematic to me to publicly record removal/downgrade actions, with or without names.
Perhaps it would be enough to just record the first occurrence of these for each user? |
Yeah, it seems a bit impolite to me, although I realize that might be culturally dependent.
🤔 It'd be more work to make an exception from #197, and could be confusing to folks ("I suggested 20 strings, why does it only say 1?"). I'm not sure there's a big benefit to it, since it'll be obvious from a person's profile whether or not their suggestions are being approved. |

I'm adding my two cents for a future version of this and I'd love to see a separation per locale. Since some polyglots translate for more then one locale. |

Only approvals are done at the moment, but reject/fuzzy will be added when we start to credit editor review actions. See WordPress/five-for-the-future#196 git-svn-id: https://meta.svn.wordpress.org/sites/trunk@11937 74240141-8908-4e6f-9713-ba540dce6ec7

Marking a string as fuzzy is counted as a "review" action. Were you thinking about that, or something else? |
Nope, exactly that. Wanted to mention it since I saw the checklist and didnt see fuzzy in there so I wanted to double check |
👍🏻 |
Somewhat related: https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6414 |
That's a good idea 👍🏻 |
@pedro-mendonca Done! |
This one might impact the most contributors
we'll probably want to do some kind of digest though, to avoid folks having dozens of profile entries on a single day, which would crowd out all the other stuff on their profile. the details for that are discussed in #197
need to get input from the polyglots team to make sure this lines up w/ what they want
