Maximizing Window on External Monitor Creates White Blank Screen #2512

Version 2.16.44.0
X64

I use a laptop with two (2) external monitors. When starting an instance of WinMerge, it opens on my laptop screen, which is set as my main display. When I move the window to an external monitor and maximize it, the window becomes a blank white screen - no title bar, no menu bar, no min, max, or close buttons - nothing. This happens whether I maximize by snapping the title bar to the top of the screen or maximizing by pressing the maximize button. This issue is present on both of my external monitors, which are extended projections of my main display.

Interestingly, this issue is not present if I try to maximize the window on my main display (my laptop screen).

Thank you for reporting this.
This issue has been resolved in commit e0f7a47.

To work around it in version 2.16.44, you can:

  • Uncheck View → Tab Bar → On Title Bar.
  • Align the top position of the secondary monitor with the main monitor.

You can download the updated executable reflecting this fix from the link below.
