Running the plugin on godot 4.2, Imported a model and I instantly got 22fps on a GTX 1660

Seems to possibly be performance issues

I have the same problem.
I think the problem may be with vrm_secondary.
I can get ~600fps without vrm_secondary, but only ~10fps with it.
My hardware specifications are shown in the screenshot. Godot version is v4.0.3.stable.official.5222a99f5.
v4.1 dev 3 produces the same result.

It's Godot Debug Menu.

We are currently working on vrm1 import and export support. Do you think we should spent our efforts in the new vrm1 support? I am also trialing a C++ module for physics calculations
