Assume you have two recipes on the meal-plan: 10 portions of pizza and 12 portions of Bolognese. You add the ingredients from both to your shopping list. Since pizza requires 200g of tomatoes per portion and Bolognese 350g, you end up with... 10x200g+12x350g= 6200g of tomatoes.
Now imagine, you don't want bolognese anymore. You could manually change tomatoes on your shopping list to 2000g, but with a larger shopping list this starts to become confusing and labour-intensive.
Another scenario could be, that you want to reduce to 8 portions of Bolognese.
Solution
Tbh, I don't know the perfect solution. The easiest would be having a button to remove all ingredients for that meal-plan from the shopping list. For reducing to 8 portions, you would need to delete the whole meal-plan and then add 8 portions again to the shopping list.
