Is your feature related to a problem? Please describe.
There's currently no purpose to gas masks, nor do we face one of the biggest threats in modern history: NBC attacks.

Describe the solution you'd like
For a medical system that can best simulate NBC attacks, as well as some preventative/solutions to that. Such as wearing protective clothing, or taking a nerve agent auto-injector.

A way to designate localised attacks, with visual feedback, and to allow time for counter-play.

I implore a good usage of post effects, particle effects (not too many), and sound design.

Describe alternatives you've considered

General Suggestions:

  • Requires some sort of ACE3 respiratory system background, maybe in a manner that it effects your stamina.
  • An ACE interaction that allows another person to put the gas mask on you when unconscious. Useful in situations where someone is down from a previous engagement and then hit by an NBC attack, or someone doesn't get their own NBC gear on in time.
  • Make the medic the prime person to be carrying and operating supplementary NBC equipment (auto-injectors, testing-kits, Geiger counter).

Gas Type Suggestions:

  • Sarin gas. Colorless, not many particle effects needed, extremely dangerous. On inhalation (without gas mask) you get a pulsating effect (like pain) on your screen, from which point you have a limited amount of time before you go into cardiac arrest. An atropine injector will reset the sarin in your blood, but if you've already gone into cardiac arrest, you will need to be treated separately for that. Because of Sarin's lethality and stealth, it should probably be SOP to be continuously wearing your gas mask in operations with it present. Getting hurt in the head should have a reasonable single chance to expose you to the Sarin, requiring you to take immediate action. Wikipedia for Sarin.

  • Mustard gas. Yellow-brown, clouds like A3 smoke, perhaps a little lighter, not as dangerous because its slower travelling clouds that you can spot easily, more dangerous if you set off a booby-trap or it's delivered to you in artillery form. Besides severely damaging your inhalation, it's a blister-agent, so it should be capable of putting wounds (abrasions or however ACE3 handles burns, probably) on exposed skin. Especially dangerous on contact with soft tissue and inhalation. Besides bandaging your abrasions (and however the airway system will function) maybe add some sort of DS2 spray that needs to be used on wounds. Heavy effects in order if it gets to your face because it will destroy your eyes. Wikipedia for mustard gas.

  • Tear gas. Light, white clouds, not lethal and well visible and so the least dangerous of the gasses. Again, heavy effects because it mostly affects your eyes, but should also affects your breathing to some degree. Counter to this would be an eyewash with regular water. Would be good for us to be capable of using for COIN operations to control civilians.
    Wikipedia for tear gas.

Nuclear/Radiological Suggestions:
British Cold War training video on nuclear warfare, good watch.

  • Some of nuclear weapon script should go hand-in-hand with the NBC system. Preferably one that does not crash the server. To this extent, a nuclear weapon script should exist not to detonate near us but off-map, because if it detonated anywhere near us on most A3 maps, we'd be fucking dead. Should include your typical mushroom cloud and a bright yellow flash. The flash should permanently affect your eyes, even if you're wearing sunglasses or laying down as you get flashed. Radiological effects should be handled by separate script.

  • The radiological script should exist separately in case of scenarios where a (terrorist) group is using/has used a dirty bomb to spread fallout. As per above mentioned training video, the fallout is heavily dependent on weather conditions. As such, it may be wise to tie this into ACE weather. Fallout should probably create adverse affects, even if wearing the NBC suit. Dizziness, being a prime consequence of radiological overdose, could be simulated with screen shaking, swaying camera movement. Maybe unconsciousness if dosage is too high for extended periods of time (no cardiac arrest). Possibly add potassium iodide pills and brushing interactions that allow you to preempt affects.
