This issue acts as a dynamic to-do list.

Cleanup:

remove license from code files
clean up comments/todos
remove code ownership attributions (not relevant with code versioning)

Feature trim:

import export of TSV, TXT and Excel file formats
organism-specific features (such as yeast)
