all I see is my regular gnome, xfce options when i click the cog as the instructions say. installed through the git clone and ./setup method. have all the dependencies that were listed to install first. using kali linux.

Which display manager is that with?

Latest patches should fix that for you. I'd recommend installing it via the PPA for Kali though :)

The issue is still reproducible on Manjaro Gnome.
I'm not sure if it is related, but no icons and themes are available in Gnome tweak app -> Appearance.
