For the KNN lab, it was not at all clear if broom made it harder or easier to do the repeated modeling. However, broom will pay off in the long term with the course. I asked on twitter if people had course materials using broom yet, and while I didn't get anything precisely like I was looking for, people sent along some resources:

  • David Robinson (author of broom) posted the slides from his useR talk introducing broom
  • David Robinson's examples from the PDX R Meetup
  • Ian Lyttle has some work on parameter assessment in linear regression using broom
  • Jenny Bryan uses broom in the lesson on polynomial regression and nonstandard evaluation for her STAT545 class.
  • Chester Ismay will be updating the end of his book to include broom

For repeated modeling not involving model-parameters, I am finding the purrr/modelr combination to be useful.

I have no idea if this will be at all closer to what you are looking for - and it is really rough.

I'll try to work on it as I can.
