301 redirect as first class feature

It may be worthwhile to consider adding 301 redirects as a primary feature in the application. One option for implementation is to add a non-required field for a redirect URL to the settings page for content items, as shown here:

When the page is loaded, if the redirect field contains a valid URL, the user would be redirected using a 301 redirect. However, this approach may require users to still complete the content item form with required fields even if they only want to use a redirect, which could be seen as an inconvenience.

Another option is to create a system-wide area in the primary navigation on the left side of the page specifically for managing redirects. This alternative would require more development effort but could provide a more streamlined experience for users. It is up to the team to decide which approach would be best suited for their needs and resources.
