Open Progress is a not for profit that is reducing the dependence on money in government and politics. We need help (particularly mobile web) .
A few months ago we beta'd our first software product, WeVolunteer , which connects grass roots groups and their volunteers to help requests from ballot initiatives and progressive campaigns. See the dozens of groups that have signed up: https://wevolunteer.openprogress.com/Groups
We're overwhelmed by the positive response that we've received by people who want to use the system. We need help with product design, project management, development, testing and design getting ready for November.
Generally we're looking for awesome, diverse, people.
Specifically developers with experience with asp.net MVC c# are preferred.
For front-end design and developers JavaScript and css would be great!
Experience integrating with ActionID would be great!
Tools
Asp.net MVC c#, Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studio Online (TFS), AWS (S3, ELB)
If you're an organization and you have an idea for a project, think about these questions before coming to the community:
What kind of technical project is this? (A website? An app? A mobile service? A campaign?)
-WeVolunteer is a web application. We will be creating companion native apps in the future as well.
What stage is the project at? (Ideation, implementation, or beta?)
-We're in beta and are being used by dozens of groups already.
What is the problem you are trying to solve, and why is it a problem?
-Super star candidates and ballot initiatives draw all the attention from volunteers. How do we make sure volunteers connect to the needs of the more than 500K initiatives that need help?
Do you know of any similar solutions? And what was lacking in the solution?
Current solutions are for an individual grass roots group, but misses the fact that active volunteers are members of multiple groups. Indivisible AND Action Together AND Sister District.
