This issue describes Pony.fm's part of this. See that task for context.

I highly recommend tackling #50 (Creative Commons licenses) before or together with this task.

Scope of this task:

  • replace the "Broadcast" license with a new version that is clearly irrevocable and blocks the deletion of a track (stations need tracks to remain permanently available to them; look to PVL's verbiage for how to present this)
    • tracks under the old license should remain on it, but it should not be available for any new tracks
  • build an integration layer for PVL's API that Pony.fm can make authenticated calls through
  • build the ability for an artist to submit their Pony.fm track to stations
    • This should automatically and irrevocably apply a broadcast-friendly license.
  • build the ability for an artist to submit their profile to PVL
    • This should automatically enable some form of automatic submission of future songs, to be worked out in detail with @omnicons.
  • notify Pony.fm users when their track is accepted or played by a radio station
  • display stats about how many times the track was played on Pony.fm, or provide a convenient link to a page on PVL with this data
  • allow artists to submit an entire album for release via Ponyville Live!
    • On Pony.fm, this will schedule the album to become available at a particular time.
    • On PVL's side, this will do what is described in PVL's side of the integration.

or provide a convenient link to a page on PVL with this data

We could end up having a condensed version of these stats on the station's song submission page and have it somewhat readily available in both places. One for some convenience to help station owners know if the submission is popular and the other for the actual artist's metrics.
