Enhancement Proposal: Host a Design Contest for PixelProps Logo, Design, and Header
Background
Currently, the PixelProps logo is derived from a Google design, which I have never been fully satisfied with. While it has served as a temporary solution, the logo doesn't reflect the unique identity and vision of the project.
I had previously engaged with another designer for a potential redesign, but we couldn’t come to an agreement on the outcome as the proposed logo was a bit too simple and didn’t quite capture the essence of the project.
Proposal
To create a fresh, original visual identity for PixelProps, I propose hosting a community-driven Design Contest. The goal is to gather creative ideas for a new logo, project header, and general design assets that can better represent PixelProps. The contest will offer an opportunity for designers and community members to submit their concepts.
Contest Details
Scope:
A new logo (main focus)
A header/banner for the project
Optional: Any additional design elements or a cohesive visual theme for the project’s branding.
Guidelines:
The design must be original and must not infringe on any existing copyrights or trademarks.
The logo should not be derivative of existing logos, particularly Google's or other major companies.
The logo should capture the essence and purpose of PixelProps—a project that deals with Pixel branded device in order to build properties and features for any device.
The design should be modern, recognizable, and scalable (usable in different sizes and formats).
Submissions should include vector files (e.g., SVG, AI) and examples of how the logo might look in different contexts (e.g., website, GitHub, social media).
Judging Criteria:
Creativity and originality
Relevance to the PixelProps mission
Visual appeal and usability in different formats (favicon, social media, etc.)
Community feedback (optional)
Timeline:
The contest will run for 4-6 weeks. During this period, participants can submit their designs via a GitHub issue, Google form, or similar platform.
After the submission deadline, the top entries will be shortlisted, and the final design will be chosen based on community votes on GitHub.
Reward:
The winner will receive $20 in USDT.
The winning designer will be credited in the project's README.md, on the project's Telegram channel.
The winner will also receive a potential invitation to contribute further to the project’s design needs.
Benefits
Originality: This will give PixelProps a unique, recognizable identity that stands out from other projects.
Community Engagement: Hosting a contest will foster community involvement and offer a way to crowdsource creative ideas.
Future Flexibility: A well-designed logo and cohesive visual identity can be useful for future branding, marketing, and promotional materials.
