Hi,

after upgrading my HA to version 2023.8.2 I receive warnings that some MQTT names will not work from version 2024.2 on as they violate the new guidelines (Discussion here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/psa-mqtt-name-changes-in-2023-8/598099 )

All sensors in the warning in my installation are pretty much all PHL MQTT elements. Warning is:

Discovered entities with a name that starts with the device name
This stops working in version 2024.2.0. Please address before upgrading

Filing this issue, because this must be somehow addressed in the next few months in PHL.
When this is fixed, a few lines would be fine what needs to be changed in the HA programming as I honestly have no clue what needs to be done.

Just had a look at this. Made a quick change to see if it resolves it. Thanks for the heads up and if it's sorted I will commit it to a branch and then you can try it out. And then I'll merge it.

@plambrechtsen Are you still around in your project?
This becomes emerging, 2023.2 is nearby ;-)

@jacotec please try this version and let me know if it works for you:
functions.py.txt
delete .txt as github does not allow uploading python scripts
EDIT: could you also confirm if with those changes the webinterface doesn't load the devices anymore?
