When you close the Paycoin QT GUI window without quitting the application, it’s still possible to get the window to show up again. Clicking “multisig” or “sign message” in “file” menu brings it back behind the new screen.

Since the GUI is the primary purpose of the QT wallet, I suggest adding a “view wallet” option under the “help” menu and setting a default keyboard shortcut of command-1 for Mac and Control-1 for Windows.

If it's the menu I'm thinking of there is already a Show/Hide Paycoin function which does what you are suggesting in regards to "view wallet" (unless I'm entirely misunderstanding).

As for the keyboard shortcut we'd need something much more unique if we wanted to make it a global.

Currently on Mac there is an option to hide an application when it is active using CMD+H. However; there is no way to bring it to the foreground again without mouse usage if it has been closed (meaning a CMD+Tab will not bring it up until you click on the icon in the dock)

This would be a smart idea; but would better be suited inside a "View" context menu like most other applications.

I'll take a look at adding something like this. As a Mac user it could come in handy.
