Hi @Openscapes/css-cohort,

Thanks for your participation in our Science Champions session last Friday. We know that Friday’s Github Clinic can be a lot to take in, especially if that was your 1st time with GitHub. For some it may have felt like a ‘Luke Skywalker Swamp’ moment. Please be patient with yourself and know that learning new skills takes time and we are here to support you. We will have office hours tomorrow at 3PT.

You've inspired us to get more organized with how to track things we come across. We created a public Openscapes Zotero library that we will continue to tag/organize.

Below is a light digest of Call 2, including a reminder for your Tasks before our Call 3 on Friday, June 4. Finally, we are sending this Call Digest via GitHub Issues. Feel free to reply; remember it will be a public when you reply.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Cheers,

Julie and Erin

Digest: CSS Cohort Call 2

Archive folder containing video recordings and agendas

Goals: We discussed data and coding strategies for future us, and continued thinking about your pathway for you and your team.

Your tasks for next time

  1. Have a Seaside Chat & continue your Pathway - A note about your “Seaside Chats”: the idea is that these meetings are useful and enduring to support your work beyond the Openscapes Cohort, so please have them with whichever team/group is most useful to you – and shape your Pathway accordingly.
    1. Discuss Discovering Community Tools (slides)
    2. List some communities/resources of interest in a file on GitHub!
      1. Either create a GitHub organization for your team
      2. Or in our cohort github repository
  2. Cohort Materials – Before next time, please check that you have access to our cohort folder. We know folks have multiple email addresses and we think we've captured them all there so you're ready for our next call but please let us know if we've missed something. \

Slide Decks:
