Faulty escaping of taxon-name strings into TNRS (eg, "Escherichia-Shigella") #101

This was originally reported in opentree#488: Funniness in 'modified for mapping' taxon name entry. I'm closing that issue and creating this one, since @mtholder discovered problematic lucene escaping of submitted names in taxomachine. See the original issue above for some useful digging and analysis.

NOTE that the original symptom (a hyphenated taxon name is only found when "fuzzy matching" is enabled) is still happening on production.

Just giving this a bump because I just ran into it! Names with dashes only map on fuzzy matching even when they are straight out of the taxonomy.tsv file, e.g. "Sordaria macrospora k-hell"
