I have been looking very hard at using OpenNumismat for stamp collecting and I'm now in the process of mapping and renaming fields to stamp related data beyond the example database you have provided for stamps.
I know it's main purpose is coin collection, but when I have looked at other stamp collecting software out there, I find them to be unsupported (development has stopped), not flexible enough and/or tied to a single country or catalogue (e.g the US Scott catalogue system which in my view is useless outside US and Canada)
OpenNumismat is VERY close to what I want, but there are a few fields missing. I fully understand if this is something you don't want to introduce, but with the system you have for turning fields on and off, I decided that asking can't hurt.
Feature requests: Additional "date of issue" field.
Date of issue and date of print are two different values for a stamp as reprints are common, often on different types of paper. The "Minting record" is perfect for registering date of print and paper type details.
For date of issue, would it be possible to have an additional date field under overall/main details.
Feature requests: Remarks field on the map tab.
Add a short remarks field.
This will allow user to make a comment on what the marked geographical position is related to.
Where the coin was found/acquired
Where it was minted
Where it was in use
etc.
For stamps I would be able to mark for example where the stamp is cancelled
Marking more than one position, each with a short remarks field, would also be really great, but less important.
Feature requests: Pull down and date field in Classification / Variation record.
I would like to use this to record the cancellation of the stamp.
Could the "Variation" field be made into a drop down field. (Type of variation, and for stamps, type of cancellation)
Would it also be possible to get a date field here. (Date of cancellation)
Not sure, but is when a variation starts to occur a relevant data field for coin collectors?
