From M1.4:

  1. "We use the short_name (short name) to indicate which collection of data granules we want to search."
  2. "An important thing to note about earthaccess.open() is that it requires a sequence of granules to open."
  3. We may want to consider formally defining the term "granule," which is a technical term used in EarthData and related cloud environments. Perhaps just to expand the sentence: "A granule is a single dataset associated with a particular NASA mission or product." We might say instead "associated with a collection of data from a NASA mission or NASA modeling activity."

In [1], our translators identified an issue where it is unclear what is being "searched." In [2], it is unclear what is doing the opening.

Re: [3], we might say something like "Just as the term 'granule' refers to a small piece of something else, we use the term 'granule' here to refer to a small piece of a larger data collection."
