This file formate seems to be used to store macros in Word document.

@ylussaud we tested m2doc with docx and docm and it works pretty good.

I don't know how this works but you did not encounter limitations at generation time nor in some M2Doc GUI ?

Well, we actually do not use any M2Doc GUI but use the m2doc generation in our own tooling. There we did not face any problem so far at generation time.
