Hi, I work with 100's of surfaces daily, and i keep finding issues sometimes with the installation, And sometimes with the surfaces themselves, Instead of creating bug issues, I would like to discuss it here first.
This week, i have been primarily focused on Surfaces 3, Surface 3 LTE, Surfaces Pro 3, and Surface Pro 4. We have so many in stock, And i just want to get rid of them. So this is what i found during installation and issues with windows updates, And even the front camera not working.
Sometimes with Surface pro 3 and pro 4, I have found that The Front Camera does not work, What i usually do is, I use Windows update and things work, I assume it has to do with updating the Firmware, As you know you battery has to be charged at 40% for the update to install firmware on your device. however, I found that Windows updates will not always install firmware on later builds.
When using 1903, I have had much more success ( At the time i stayed with the default build as i was let to believe that drivers failed in instalation if the build was off, I later discovered that it might not be the case. And Cotlist might be at fault here. )
With 21H2, after some successful window updates, we usually get an error with an error code 0x80070643.
with 22H2, Windows updates do not give the Firmware updates needed. Secondly, At times, with some surfaces, We get a ton of errors in the installation.
FYI Don't quote me, but i think the issues of 22H2, might have started when i used the command, Update-osdcloudUSB -PSUpdate.
As i mentioned before, I had issues with the past, Where builds matter when installing the Drivers. However, i only found these issues with the later Surface Pro models. Currently not dealing with those issues i had in the past and I will be looking into this when i go back to installing a bulk of later Surface Models.
This is a new odd issue that I am having on some surfaces, When installing Windows 10 22H2 i get a ton of errors, The log file is here. 2023-11-02-032424-Deploy-OSDCloud.log
This is an open discussion, And of course, i will update the logs when i have a min. I am just wondering if others have had these issues as well, And yet again i do know i deal with bulk with an 85% success rate.
I would like to use this discussion as a thread on updates on my daily progress, On what kinda issues i deal with, And help others, And as well get advice on what to do.
