Generalize oversampling function for more base ADC bits

Improve it so it works, in general, for any number of base bits coming out of the ADC.
This will be a long-term improvement, and may require the code to be converted to a 0-1 normalization instead of a 10-bit Arduino-Uno-style 0-1023 standard, which it has right now.
