vram/ram requirements?

Is there any point attempting to use a 2080 with 8gb vram and 64gb ram for OT? I had tons of issues with kosha and wasted days trying to make it work. I'm about to make a hardware upgrade, will i be fine with a 4090 or do I need to aim for the cloud? What sort of performance can I expect ? thank you and apologies for the basic question :)

with a 2080 you can do a lot of things for sd 1.5, like lora, and some finetuning, but you will OOM with some methods. 4090 be a lot better for sdxl training. Even some things are out of reach with 24gb vram though.
