Welcome to the documentation site of the Metadata Services Unit (MSU) of the New York Public Library {: .fs-6 .fw-300 }
Located within New York Public Library's Special Collections Processing department, our unit:
- Increases access and discovery of library resources
- Strengthens data interoperability across the library
- Supports and engages staff in efficient metadata creation, assessment, enhancement, and remediation for resources digitized for NYPL Digital Collections
- Provides staff training, project consultation, and documentation of local standards and practices
- Supports the improvement and maintenance of our Metadata Management System (MMS) and Digital Collections on product development teams
