There's been some investigation of that at EMC as well. @KateFriedman-NOAA do you know what the status of looking into git-lfs is at EMC? I wanted to say that there was potential issues with costs, but hopefully Kate can tell us more. |

We have < 2GB of data for WW3: 67M. cases However, I would still be concerned with putting in binary files into a repo, does git-lsf handle that okay? Would that effect the time of cloning (which we already get some complaints from some using WW3 about time to clone and size of repo)? If a netcdf file changed, would that make the size of the WW3 repo explode? (Not an lfs-expert, perhaps this is obvious if I knew the basics). |

Hi all,
I've recently discovered the existence of git-lfs which is a large file system. This could replace the use of the ftp and ww3_from_ftp.sh but it requires to be tested first...
