Proper sediment calibration for river (@samharrison7) and estuary (@slofts). Using Thames Initiative and EA data, 2009-2012 for calibration, 2013-2015 for validation.

Specific steps towards calibration:

  • Run model using a few years' data until sediment size distribution at steady state
  • Revise model "calibration mode" and data input to enable reach specific resuspension parameters
  • Perform calibration, river first and then estuary

Adding a few more specific actions to this to get the model "in shape" to perform calibration:

  • Batch runs: Completed, documented at https://github.com/NERC-CEH/nanofase/blob/develop/doc/batch.md. Enables model runs to take a series of input files so not all input data is loaded into memory at once.
  • Create checkpoints/core dumps: Once size distribution steady state is obtained, it will be useful to dump the model state to file so that we can start the run from that point, as opposed to running to steady state again. I will start work on this, though it's likely to be quite a significant task.
