• Steve created the long-awaited PR for Julie; cap_gen.py can now parse ccpp-table-properties and dependencies

Transition to cap_gen.py

• Things that need to happen for transitioning UFS to cap_gen.py (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M3mCO3ESR9OJqLyUbQf-ahJtmfmGKilZlWaBTxsfMRk/edit?usp=sharing)
  • Need to add: remove all optional arguments from CCPP-physics (also optional=T/F ?) and from ccpp_prebuild_config.py
  • Can we completely get rid of optional arguments and update the CCPP requirements document? Do we need to get approval for this?
    • Last time we updated the document it was discussed with EMC and approved by Fred Toepfer (NGGPS program manager at that time)
    • Technically, this is a change on how to write CCPP compliant physics and not a change of the requirements for CCPP itself - just updating the CCPP technical documentation is enough
    • Should we discuss the need to support optional arguments with physics developers? If so, we should lay out the alternatives to them
