Description

The HLS Vegetation Indices Operational Readiness Review (ORR) checklist that SNWG provided requires metadata to adhere to the Metadata Requirements Base Reference for NASA Earth Science Data Products. VI collection level metadata is missing a few required fields.

NASA metadata requirements check
VI ORR checklist

The following items are missing: abstract, Earth science keywords, responsible party contacts and roles of various entities, citation information, and link to the user guide. However, we should focus on ARC team suggestions.

The ARC team reviewed the metadata and provided the following feedback: HLS-VI Metadata Review. We should probably stick to the ARC teams suggestions.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Data format
  • Online Access URLs (check CMR output first)
  • Online Access URLs Description (check CMR output first)
  • Horizontal Spatial Domain
  • Project Short Name

After conversations with @madhuksridhar and @brianmfreitag, it was determined that the only change required at this point is the DataFormat. Regarding the URLs, that occurs on the LPDAAC Cumulus side; the project short name is at the collection level, not the granule level (there is no Project entry in the granule metadata); and the spatial domain is a much more involved effort, which may not even be necessary.
